Berms and sloping planes are used to connect the levated roadway of the Gardiner Expressway. The elevated roadway would no longer be used for cars. The multiple uses of parkspace, rooftop gardens, storefronts and other pedestrian activities would serve to generate public activity in the area. The elevated road way would become a large thoroughfare for transit, bikes and pedestrians - no cars. The obvious question is what to do about the cars?
Car traffic could be handled in a few ways. The first is on a widened version of the Lakeshore road below. This would be hard. The second is along an infill project into lake Ontario. Low rising planes and landscapes with a gentle slope up and over the Gardiner would create an unimpeded progression from the city to the waterfront.

In some locations, the elevated portion of the roadway is close to grade.
